Hey everyone! So, the 2024 Oscars are still fresh in my mind – the glitz, the glamour, the intense social media buzz afterward. But hey, that's showbiz, right? Anyway, I'm already itching to predict the 2025 Oscar nominees. It's a total crapshoot, I know, but I've been following films like a hawk all year, so bear with me. This is just my fun, totally unscientific prediction – don't @ me if I'm completely off!

Best Picture: My Bold Predictions (and Why They Might Suck)

This is always the toughest category. I’m thinking we'll see a mix of big-budget blockbusters and smaller, critically acclaimed indies. Remember how Everything Everywhere All At Once surprised everyone? That's what keeps this so unpredictable.

• The Inevitable Blockbuster: I'm betting on a huge superhero movie or something equally massive, maybe one from Marvel or DC. They often get nominated, even if the critics aren't completely sold. We’ll see if this time the Academy will prioritize a commercially successful movie. Their marketing budgets are, let’s just say, insane. Marketing is a big deal when it comes to awards, really. Think about all the people who might have never even heard of a smaller film if they didn’t see ads for it everywhere!

• The Indie Darling: I'm predicting something quiet and powerful, perhaps a character-driven drama from a smaller studio. Something that critics rave about, but doesn’t break box office records. These films often receive better reviews and become more popular as word of mouth spreads among film aficionados.

• A Foreign Language Film Surprise: We need some diversity, right? I'm thinking a powerful story from another country, which is a trend we see every year. There are always unexpected nominees that really surprise people.

My biggest fear? Being completely wrong! Seriously, predicting awards is like trying to guess the lottery numbers. There are so many talented filmmakers and actors out there; it's easy to overlook some serious contenders.

Best Director: A Tough Call

This category is even harder to call than Best Picture, as it's not only about the film itself but also the director’s vision and style. The nominations for best director always have intense discussions on social media! My gut says we might see some well-known names but also perhaps a breakout talent that no one saw coming. I feel like there's always someone who comes out of nowhere to get nominated. My past predictions weren’t the best but I’m hoping I’m getting better at this.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some well-known actors get nominated, but also some newer talent that has recently gained popularity. For me, the Best Actress race is especially tough – I’ve already seen some incredible performances from early releases. And honestly, I have no idea who to predict!

Okay, I'm not an expert on cinematography, editing, or sound design – but I know these categories are crucial. These awards often go to films that have already received a lot of hype for the other categories. I always keep an eye on what critics are saying and pay attention to smaller categories.
