Okay, so, remember that crazy Castaic Lake fire a few years back? Man, that was intense. I was totally unprepared, which, looking back, is kinda embarrassing. But hey, we all learn, right? This post is all about that experience, what went wrong, and – more importantly – how to be way better prepared if something similar happens near you. Think of it as your emergency preparedness 101, from someone who totally messed up the first time.

My Total Disaster of an Evacuation

First off, let me tell you, I was not ready. I mean, I knew about wildfires – California, am I right? – but I seriously underestimated how fast things can escalate.
