Guthrie Explains Night Agent Cameo: A Behind-the-Scenes Look
Hey everyone! So, you've all been buzzing about my little cameo in the Netflix show, The Night Agent. Let me tell you, it was way more fun than I ever expected. I mean, who gets to hang out on a set like that? Not me, usually! This whole thing started kinda randomly, which I guess is how most cool things happen.
The Unexpected Call
I got this call out of the blue – my agent, bless her heart, finally got me something other than a voiceover for a cheese commercial (don't judge, they pay well!). They said Netflix, The Night Agent, small part... and I was like, "Heck yeah!" I didn't even know much about the show, to be honest. I'm usually more of a "cozy mysteries and reality TV" kind of guy. But hey, free food and a chance to be on a real television show? Count me in.
I'd never really done much acting before. Sure, I had a few roles in high school theatre, mostly as the awkward sidekick or the nerdy scientist, and that was it. One time I even tried an improv class. That was... a learning experience. Let's just say my "spontaneous" character choices tended toward the absurd. I remember once I decided to play a mime who was also a mime obsessed with mime, the result was a comedic disaster and one of my least favorite performances.
On Set and Behind the Scenes
The set was insane. All this high-tech equipment, serious actors, and a whole crew of people working like crazy. I felt like a kid in a candy store. The director was super chill, though; he gave me clear instructions and made me feel comfortable, even with my lack of experience. It was mostly just one scene, just a brief interaction with Gabriel Basso's character, Peter Sutherland. He was great. Really professional and cool about the whole thing. Such an easy-going guy.
The best part? The catering. Seriously, the food was amazing. I swear, I ate enough to feed a small family. Probably why I gained like five pounds that week. Totally worth it, though. They had these incredible mini-quiches that were simply divine. They were better than any I'd had before. I still dream about them.
Lessons Learned and Advice For Aspiring Cameo Stars
So, what did I learn from this whole experience? Well, for starters, even small roles can be incredibly rewarding. It's a different world from my usual gigs. You have to be on point and quick to pick up directions. Also, always ask questions! Don’t be afraid to admit you don’t know. I asked tons of questions – mostly about what the next meal would be and where the best light was for my Instagram selfies.
If you’re hoping to get a cameo, here are a few tips based on my very limited experience:
- Network: Get yourself out there. This kind of opportunity isn't just about luck; it's about who you know.
- Be prepared: Study your lines and understand the context of your role.
- Be professional: Even if it's a small part, treat it like the big opportunity it is. I mean, it is.
- Have fun! Seriously, relax and enjoy the ride. You are working on a set of a major streaming service.
That’s my story, folks! It wasn't some major role, but it was a fantastic opportunity, and a great story to tell. Who knows? Maybe I'll snag another cameo someday! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go look for a recipe for those mini-quiches...
