• Assemble a go-bag: This isn't just for your sentimental stuff; think about water, food, medicine, important documents, flashlights, and a first-aid kit. Think of it like a survival kit – make sure it includes items that can keep your family going for at least three days.
• Regularly maintain your home's fire safety: Check your smoke detectors, keep gutters clean, and make sure any flammable materials are safely stored.

Beyond the Basics: Staying Informed & Community Support

Beyond personal preparedness, it's crucial to stay informed about fire danger in your area. Monitor weather reports, pay attention to fire warnings, and stay updated on evacuation orders. Community support is also key. Helping your neighbors can save lives and property.

San Diego County's wildfire season can be brutal. It's an aspect of living here, something we can't ignore. The threat is real, and it's always worth being prepared. Believe me, being prepared makes all the difference. Learning from my experience, hopefully, you won't have to learn the hard way.
