• Protect Your Home: Create defensible space around your house. Clear dry brush and debris from your property. This significantly reduces the risk of your home catching fire. Think about installing fire-resistant roofing and landscaping – this is a huge investment, but it's worth considering if you live in a high-risk area.

• Have a Communication Plan: Designate a meeting place outside your neighborhood in case you get separated from family members during an evacuation. This could be a friend's home or something, but the important thing is to think ahead. I didn't, and almost lost my cool.
